Chert Tiger
Defined Momentum Velvets VelvetHAF0633-03
Chert Tiger is a warm, earthy brown velvet with a closely textured surface that shifts between caramel, chestnut and lighter woven highlights. Fine, irregular horizontal markings create a subtle tiger-like rhythm without a high-contrast motif.

About this fabric
The chert-brown ground is threaded with lighter flecks and softly broken, horizontal wave lines, giving the surface visible depth across the swatch. Catalogued as velvet and weighing 495 gsm, it has the substantial presence expected of a fabric suited to upholstery. Its 75.5 threads-per-cm construction creates a dense, tactile weave, while the 143 cm usable width offers practical coverage for furniture. The pattern repeats at 32.5 cm vertically and 36 cm horizontally, keeping the small-scale texture controlled on larger upholstered pieces.
How to use it
Pair Chert Tiger with dark walnut, aged leather and warm neutral linens to reinforce its grounded brown tone. It would bring particularly effective depth to a reading chair, sofa or upholstered headboard where the irregular texture can catch changing light.
Use this warm brown velvet to bring depth and softly patterned texture to upholstered seating.

Pairs well with
Chert Tiger is a quiet cloth, so it carries a pattern beside it: one of these on the curtains and this on the chair. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it
Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
