Performance Boucle FabricHAF0543-15

Islay Slate is a dense, cool-toned boucle with a smoky slate-grey ground and finely mottled surface. Its softly varied colouring gives the plain textile depth without introducing a visible motif.

About this fabric

The close-up reveals a compact, nubby weave in layered slate, charcoal and pale grey fibres, creating a softly flecked appearance rather than a flat solid. At 519 gsm, it has the substantial visual weight expected of an upholstery fabric, while the 84 threads per cm contribute to its closely built surface. The fabric has a 138 cm usable width and 0 cm vertical and horizontal pattern repeats, so there is no motif to align when cutting. The cool grey tone reads quietly architectural in even light, with lighter fibres catching across the textured face.

How to use it

Pair Islay Slate with pale stone, chalky white or blue-grey walls for a calm, contemporary scheme, or use it to temper warmer timber and aged leather. Its charcoal flecks help disguise small tonal variations across larger upholstered forms.

Use this cool, depth-rich slate boucle on sofas, armchairs or ottomans where its nubby surface can add quiet texture.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
