About this fabric

This plain velvet from J Brown’s Vintage Velvet collection has a distinctly dark teal tone that reads almost forest-green in the shadows, with lighter blue-green movement where the pile turns. Woven in 100% polyester, it is specified for contract use and offers a robust 30,000 Martindale rub test, making it well suited to hard-working seating. The fabric is supplied back coated to Cigarette & Match to BS5852, with other treatments available on request. Its wipeable finish or professional dry clean in situ care guidance makes it practical as well as visually rich. The surface has a softly brushed, directional look rather than a flat colour, so the shade feels layered and substantial.

How to use it

Use this deep teal to ground a scheme with walnut, brass or blackened metal, where its cool, shadowy finish adds contrast. It works especially well on statement chairs, banquettes and cushions in contemporary or heritage-inspired interiors.
