Brer Rabbit Indigo/Vellum

Little Book of Morris Fabrics FabricMOF0023-05

Brer Rabbit appears here as a cool, densely detailed indigo pattern over a softly aged vellum ground. The closely packed foliage and small figures create a richly ornamental surface without losing the contrast between blue and pale neutral.

About this fabric

The Indigo/Vellum colourway pairs deep, slightly muted blue with a warm parchment-like ground, giving the pattern a quietly antique character rather than a bright, high-contrast finish. Fine botanical sprays, curling foliage and small rabbit motifs repeat closely across the visible surface. At 290 gsm, this is a versatile mid-weight textile suited to both upholstery and drapery, while the 137 cm usable width supports generous curtain and furnishing cuts. The pattern repeat measures 40 cm vertically by 27.5 cm horizontally, keeping the ornate design rhythm clearly present across a larger application.

How to use it

Use this cool indigo colourway against warm ivory, weathered oak or aged brass, where its vellum ground can soften the depth of the blue. It is especially effective on full curtains or a statement chair, with plain textiles allowing the intricate repeat to remain the focal point.

Use the cool indigo-and-vellum palette to bring Morris-style botanical detail to curtains, cushions or occasional upholstery.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
