About this fabric

This Morris & Co. velvet has a 416 gsm weight and a 136.5 cm usable width, giving the design a substantial presence for upholstered furniture. Repeating artichoke heads, pointed leaves and scrolling stems are picked out in warm ivory, muted gold and pearwood tones against the near-black midnight background. Its 32 cm vertical and 68 cm horizontal pattern repeats create a clearly decorative scale without losing the intricate detail of the foliage. With 57.7 threads per centimetre, the densely patterned cloth has a refined, closely worked appearance.

How to use it

Pair the midnight ground with walnut, dark-stained timber or aged brass, then use the pearwood-gold flowers as the warmer accent through cushions, lampshades or trim. It is especially effective on a statement armchair, headboard or formal sofa where the botanical repeat can be seen in full.
