Orton grey

Diffusion Fabricorton/fa1/dov

Orton Grey has a softly textured, contemporary look, with a cool grey ground enlivened by pale speckled marks and fine blue-toned flecks. The overall effect is understated but not flat, giving the design a gentle sense of movement.

About this fabric

Woven in a substantial 550gsm blend of 45% viscose, 25% polyester, 20% cotton and 10% linen, this fabric has the weight and body to suit both upholstery and drapery. The surface reads as a muted grey with a cool, slightly blue cast, while the broken vertical pattern adds rhythm without feeling busy. Pale spots and striations sit on top of the weave, creating a layered, stone-like texture that feels refined rather than stark. It is dry clean only, iron safe, and available at a usable width of 140cm, with pattern repeats of 17.5cm horizontally and 21.5cm vertically.

How to use it

Use Orton Grey to bring a smart, textural note to an upholstered armchair, or let it soften a scheme in full-length curtains. Its cool grey tone pairs especially well with crisp whites, pale oak and brushed metal finishes.

A cool, textured grey that works well on tailored upholstery or quietly patterned curtains.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Orton grey without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
