Orton blue

Diffusion Fabricorton/fa1/blu

Orton Blue has a softly mottled, pebble-like pattern that reads as cool and textural at first glance. The blue ground is lifted by ivory dots and warmer grey-beige threads, giving the swatch a calm, layered look.

About this fabric

Woven in a substantial 550gsm construction, Orton Blue is a versatile fabric suitable for curtains, blinds and upholstery. The composition of 45% viscose, 25% polyester, 20% cotton and 10% linen gives the surface a slightly nubby handle and a matte, natural finish. Its 17.5cm horizontal repeat and 21.5cm vertical repeat create a dense, organic scatter pattern that feels lively without becoming busy. The blue tones sit in a soft denim range rather than a bright cobalt, so the pale motif stands out clearly against the grounded weave. Dry clean only; iron safe.

How to use it

Use Orton Blue on an occasional chair, cushion set or relaxed curtain to bring pattern without heaviness. It works especially well with white paint, putty linens and weathered timber, where the cool blue and creamy marks stay fresh.

Pair with pale oak, chalky neutrals or brushed brass to keep the texture crisp and contemporary.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
