Painswick blue

Painswick Fabricpainswi/fa1/cor

Painswick Blue has a gently weathered blue ground set with a neat checked pattern in warm peachy lines. The woven texture gives the colour a softly variegated, slightly brushed look that feels inviting rather than stark.

About this fabric

Woven in 100% polyester, this fabric has a substantial 420 gsm handle and a 30,000 Martindale rub rating, making it suitable for curtains, blinds and upholstery. The visible check is medium in scale, with powdery blue squares crossed by salmon-peach stripes and deeper navy accents that sharpen the grid. Its cool, muted blue base reads calm and slightly rustic, while the warmer lines add contrast and stop the design feeling flat. With a 137cm width and 5cm horizontal and vertical pattern repeat, it is practical as well as decorative. Dry clean only and dry iron care help preserve the characterful woven surface.

How to use it

Use it on a classic armchair or ottoman where the blue ground can soften the room, then echo the peach-toned lines in cushions or artwork. It also suits relaxed curtains in a study or snug, where the muted blue and navy checks bring easy structure.

A smart blue check that works well across tailored upholstery and relaxed curtains.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Painswick blue without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
