Meerwood blue

Penningtonweaves Fabricmeerwoo/fa1/sky

Meerwood Blue shows a painterly floral trail on a light ground, with rose-like blooms and slender leaves picked out in soft blue, sage and golden olive. The overall effect is airy and quietly colourful, with the design reading gently weathered rather than bright.

About this fabric

This Penningtonweaves fabric is woven in a 78% cotton, 22% polyester composition and has a substantial 594gsm handle, which gives the cloth body as well as a tactile surface. The large floral motif sits across a soft ivory ground, with the blue flower forms appearing washed and layered rather than sharply outlined. Olive and yellow-green stems thread through the design, adding warmth to the cool blue palette and keeping the colourway from feeling stark. With a 15,000 Martindale rating and suitability for curtains, blinds and upholstery, it offers a practical mid-weight option with decorative presence. The 140cm width and 70cm by 54.3cm repeat should be allowed for when pattern matching across larger pieces.

How to use it

Use this colourway to soften a room with pale oak, linen, and painted white finishes, where the misty blues can echo natural daylight. It works especially well on an accent chair or relaxed curtains when you want pattern without heavy contrast.

Pair with pale timber and chalky neutrals to let the painterly florals stay fresh.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
