About this fabric

Aril's Garden Blue Clay/Pink from Sanderson's Arboretum Fabrics collection is a 252 gsm fabric with a usable width of 137 cm and a generous 70.9 cm vertical repeat, so the birds and flowering branches need room to settle into the pattern. The print reads clearly on the cloth: a soft cream base is lifted by blue-clay leaves, watery teal accents and painterly pink blossoms. Fine stems and looping vines keep the large repeat feeling delicate rather than heavy, while the 38 threads per cm specification suggests a cloth that should hold this detailed motif cleanly. The overall effect is fresh, decorative and slightly romantic, with enough body for upholstery use as well as drapery.

How to use it

This colourway works well in bright sitting rooms, sunrooms or bedrooms where the cream ground can pick up daylight and let the blue-clay foliage stay crisp. Pair it with pale oak, white-painted joinery and muted pink or aqua accents to echo the embroidered feel of the design.

Use with pale woods and brushed brass to keep the lively bird-and-blossom repeat feeling fresh.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
