About this fabric

This colourway from Sanderson’s Dorton Velvets collection is a velvet with no pattern repeat, so the focus stays on the depth of colour and the tactile surface. At 405 gsm and 102 threads per cm, it has the substantial, closely woven body expected of an upholstery velvet, with a usable width of 148 cm and a standard length of 40 m. The swatch shows a very dark navy ground with subtle blue notes that emerge where the pile catches the light, giving it a refined, slightly smoky finish rather than a bright royal tone. The overall effect is formal and composed, with enough visual softness to keep it from feeling flat.

How to use it

Use Dorton Midnight on an upholstered armchair, sofa or ottoman where the dark navy pile can absorb light and look especially rich. It pairs well with pale wood, crisp white, brushed brass or soft grey textiles for a sharp, balanced scheme.
