About this fabric

This Sanderson fabric from the Elysian Fabrics collection has a usable width of 138 cm and a substantial 344 gsm weight, so it has enough body for relaxed upholstery as well as curtains. The large 84 cm vertical repeat and 68 cm horizontal repeat suit the sweeping scene, where misty blue water, pale sky and mossy hills create a layered coastal look. In this Whitstable Blue colourway, the blues are washed and cool rather than saturated, softened by sage, stone and oatmeal accents that keep the print airy. The woven cloth reads as a decorative furnishing fabric rather than a crisp lightweight textile, with visible structure that helps the painted detail hold its shape.

How to use it

Use it on an occasional chair, window seat or full-length drapes where the broad landscape repeat can be appreciated. It sits well with chalky whites, driftwood neutrals and muted blue-greens for a calm coastal scheme.

Pair with pale linens or weathered woods to keep the coastal landscape feeling airy and fresh.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
