Beckett Chalk/Taupe

Elysian Fabrics FabricSAF0246-01

Beckett Chalk/Taupe is a softly muted woven with a pale chalk ground and a whisper of taupe worked through its fine chevron-like texture. The overall effect is light, calm and gently weathered rather than crisp or stark.

About this fabric

This Sanderson fabric from the Elysian Fabrics collection has a usable width of 133.5 cm and comes on a standard 30 m roll, with a vertical pattern repeat of 23.5 cm and a horizontal repeat of 11.4 cm. Its 481 gsm weight and 31 threads per cm point to a substantial cloth with enough body for upholstery, while the woven surface still reads refined rather than heavy. In Beckett Chalk/Taupe, the pattern sits in a warm off-white to pale taupe range, so the design appears subtle from a distance and more textural close up. The delicate herringbone-like movement catches the light softly, giving the fabric a gently aged, linen-inspired feel.

How to use it

Use this colourway on a sofa, banquette or dining chair where its chalky warmth can soften harder materials like stone, timber and bronze. It also works well in layered neutral schemes, where the pale taupe detail adds depth without darkening the room.

A quiet neutral that layers easily with oak, linen and pale stone.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Beckett Chalk/Taupe without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
