About this fabric

This Sanderson velvet has a substantial 405gsm weight and a dense 102 threads/cm construction, giving it the full-bodied handle you expect from a fabric made for upholstery. The 148cm usable width and plain, pattern-free surface make it especially practical for cut-and-cover furniture projects. In this colourway, the blue sits between navy and royal blue, with a cool, inky depth that looks more polished than bright. As the pile turns, it reveals soft tonal shifts rather than a flat block of colour, which gives the fabric a refined sense of movement.

How to use it

Use Dorton Royal on a sofa, slipper chair or ottoman where its dark blue depth can anchor the room. It pairs especially well with pale plaster, warm oak and brushed brass, which bring out the velvet’s jewel-toned richness.
