About this fabric

This velvet from Sanderson’s Dorton Velvets collection has a usable width of 148 cm and a substantial 405 gsm weight, which supports its upholstery-led character. The cloth shows no pattern repeat, so the focus stays on the colour and pile: a muted olive-leaning gold that feels warm rather than bright. Under the light, the surface shifts between burnished ochre and deeper khaki-gold shadows, creating a subtle, tailored sheen. With 102 threads per cm, the finish appears tightly constructed and refined, suitable for pieces that need both presence and polish.

How to use it

Use this muted gold velvet on an occasional chair, banquette or headboard where its warm olive note can soften darker woods and brass accents. It pairs especially well with russet, tobacco and deep green tones, which bring out its earthy depth.
