Dorton Orchid

Dorton Velvets VelvetSAF0312-04

Dorton Orchid is a smooth, plain velvet in a muted orchid pink that reads soft, dusty and quietly elegant. The close pile gives the surface a gentle, light-catching sheen without looking glossy.

About this fabric

This colourway has a mellow pink base with a cool orchid undertone, so it feels richer than blush but less saturated than magenta. As a velvet, it has a dense, even finish with a subtle directional nap that softens the light across the surface. The fabric is specified at 405 gsm with a usable width of 148 cm, making it a substantial cloth for upholstery, and the lack of pattern repeat keeps the look clean and uninterrupted. With 102 threads per cm, the handle should feel tightly woven and refined, suiting smart interior schemes where colour depth matters.

How to use it

Use it on a statement armchair, banquette or ottoman to bring a powdery jewel-tone accent into a room. It works especially well with brass, smoked glass and pale oak, where the orchid shade can stay warm and subdued.

Pair with warm woods and pale neutrals to let the velvety orchid tone stay soft and refined.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
