Dorton Velvets VelvetSAF0312-23

Dorton Petrol is a dense, low-sheen velvet in a dark petrol blue that reads cool and refined in the pile. The surface catches the light softly, giving the colour quiet depth rather than shine.

About this fabric

This Sanderson velvet has a substantial 405 gsm handle and a usable width of 148 cm, making it well suited to upholstered pieces that benefit from body and durability. The pile appears smooth and closely cropped, with the light picking out a muted blue-green cast across the surface. With no vertical or horizontal repeat, the cloth presents as a clean plain velvet rather than a patterned textile. Its 102 threads per cm specification supports the closely woven, polished look visible in the swatch.

How to use it

Use Dorton Petrol on an armchair, banquette or headboard where its deep teal-toned blue can add weight and atmosphere. It pairs neatly with oak, brass and warm neutrals, especially in rooms that need a darker, tailored accent.

A rich, light-absorbing velvet that brings depth and polish to tailored upholstery.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
