About this fabric

This plain velvet has a smooth, close surface and a gentle tonal depth rather than a high shine, which gives the putty colour a soft, earthy calm. Supplied at 148 cm usable width and 405 gsm, it has the reassuring weight expected of an upholstery velvet, while the 102 threads per cm specification points to a tightly constructed cloth. With no pattern repeat, the fabric presents as an even, tailored neutral that lets the texture do the work. The colour sits between beige and taupe with a slightly warm stone cast, making it feel grounded rather than stark.

How to use it

Use this putty shade on an occasional chair, sofa or ottoman where you want a neutral that still feels tailored. It layers easily with oak, dark bronze and chalky off-whites, and its warm undertone keeps a room from feeling cold.

A calm, practical neutral that sits neatly with timber, linen and warmer stone shades.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
