Dorton Velvets VelvetSAF0312-28

Dorton Heather is a smooth, understated velvet in a warm mushroom taupe. Its low-sheen surface gives the colour a soft depth that feels calm and refined rather than flat.

About this fabric

This colourway reads as a muted taupe with a gentle heathered warmth, shifting between brown and grey as the velvet pile catches the light. The finish looks dense and finely textured, which suits the fabric’s substantial 405 gsm weight and upholstery-led handle. With a usable width of 148 cm, no pattern repeat and 102 threads per cm, it is a practical plain velvet for tailored seating and soft, structured interiors. The colour stays grounded and versatile, but the pile adds enough movement to stop it feeling heavy.

How to use it

Use it on an armchair, banquette or occasional sofa where a soft neutral is needed with more depth than beige. It pairs well with pale oak, stone, aged brass and other muted naturals.

A quietly tonal velvet that adds depth and warmth without drawing focus.

Pairs well with

Dorton Heather is a quiet cloth, so it carries a pattern beside it: one of these on the curtains and this on the chair. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
