Dorton Fig

Dorton Velvets VelvetSAF0312-33

Dorton Fig is a dense, plain velvet in a deep fig purple that reads rich and shadowy across the pile. The finish catches the light with a soft wine-toned glow, giving the colourway a quietly dramatic depth.

About this fabric

This Sanderson velvet has a substantial 405gsm handle and a usable width of 148 cm, which supports its suitability for upholstery use. With no vertical or horizontal pattern repeat, the surface is all about colour and pile rather than motif. The visible shade is a saturated fig purple with burgundy undertones, appearing darker and more brooding in the shadows and slightly warmer where the nap reflects the light. At 102 threads per cm, the cloth looks closely woven and refined, with a smooth, even face that suits tailored furniture.

How to use it

Use this colourway on a sofa, occasional chair or ottoman where its deep purple tone can read against brass, walnut or blackened wood. It also brings a luxurious note to quieter schemes, especially alongside cream, taupe or ink-blue accents.

Rich and dramatic, this velvet adds depth to statement seating and intimate rooms.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
