About this fabric

This Sanderson velvet has a pronounced, close texture that catches the light gently rather than shining brightly, which suits the dense, even colour visible here. At 405gsm and with 102 threads per cm, it has the substantial body expected of a hard-working upholstery cloth. The usable width is 148 cm, and with no vertical or horizontal pattern repeat, it offers a clean, uninterrupted finish across seating. The claret shade sits between red and wine, giving it a more composed, luxurious feel than a brighter crimson.

How to use it

Pair this deep red velvet with walnut, brass and muted neutrals for a room with warmth and depth. It is especially effective on sofas, ottomans or dining chairs where the colour can read as elegant rather than loud.

Use to bring a rich, tailored depth to classic seating or dramatic accents.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
