About this fabric

Part of Sanderson’s Dorton Velvets collection, this plain velvet has a usable width of 148 cm and comes on a 40 m standard roll. At 405 gsm with 102 threads per cm, it has the density and handle expected of a substantial upholstery velvet. There is no pattern repeat, which keeps the colour reading uninterrupted and allows the brown tone to feel especially uniform and luxurious. In the image, the shade sits in a warm cocoa register with subtle chestnut undertones, giving it more depth than a flat chocolate brown.

How to use it

This warm brown works well on deep buttoned seating, an ottoman or a tailored headboard where its soft sheen can catch the light. Pair it with camel leather, oak, and muted cream for a layered, understated scheme.

Use with warm woods and brushed brass to let the velvet’s deep brown glow feel grounded and tailored.
