About this fabric

This Sanderson velvet has a substantial 570 gsm handle and a usable width of 140 cm, making it a confident choice for upholstered pieces that need body and presence. The design shows a dense, cut-pile surface with irregular vertical streaking, where the lighter amethyst ground catches the light against deeper plum shadows. Its 70 cm horizontal repeat creates a broad, sweeping rhythm across the cloth, even though the visible pattern reads as organic and painterly rather than crisp. With no performance features noted, it is best treated as a decorative upholstery velvet rather than a hard-working contract cloth. The overall effect is cool-toned, dusky and elegant, with enough depth to sit comfortably in both modern and classic schemes.

How to use it

Use Icaria Amethyst on a tailored armchair, ottoman or occasional sofa to add a jewel-toned accent without brightening the room. It pairs especially well with warm metals, smoked glass and deep neutrals, which let the mauve-purple tone stay sophisticated rather than sweet.
