About this fabric

This Sanderson velvet has a substantial 570 gsm handle and a dense 79 threads per cm construction, which suits it to upholstery and gives the surface a plush, weighty feel. The colourway reads as burnt sienna with deep umber streaking, so the pattern feels tonal rather than sharply contrasted. Its 70 cm horizontal repeat creates a broad, rhythmic sweep across the cloth, while the 140 cm usable width makes it practical for larger furniture pieces. The overall effect is warm, moody and tactile, with the pile catching the light in softer coppery notes against the darker grounds.

How to use it

Pair this rust velvet with aged brass, walnut and textured neutrals to bring out its warm depth. It works especially well on a sofa, wing chair or ottoman where the directional striation can be seen across larger panels.

Use on statement seating to let the warm, weathered striation read richly in the light.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
