Faraday Velvet Plum

Sanderson x Giles Deacon Faraday Velvets VelvetSAF0423-15

Faraday Velvet Plum is a richly dark velvet patterned with a small repeating geometric lattice. The plum ground reads deep and moody, while the lighter outlines catch the light with a soft, lustrous edge.

About this fabric

This Sanderson x Giles Deacon velvet has a substantial 548gsm weight and a 137 cm usable width, making it a confident choice for upholstery. The design shows a compact 10.3 cm vertical repeat and 17.5 cm horizontal repeat, creating a tightly worked surface with a regular, honeycomb-like rhythm. In this colourway, the plum pile appears almost wine-toned in the shadows, with a muted aubergine depth that keeps the overall effect elegant rather than bright. The pale network lines lift the pattern just enough to give the velvet definition without breaking its rich, enveloping finish.

How to use it

Use it on an occasional chair, ottoman, or headboard where the plum colour can feel jewel-like and intimate. It pairs well with walnut, brass, and warm neutrals that echo the fabric’s low-sheen depth.

Rich plum velvet with a subtle metallic outline that suits tailored statement pieces.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Faraday Velvet Plum without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
