Faraday Velvet Walnut

Sanderson x Giles Deacon Faraday Velvets VelvetSAF0423-09

Faraday Velvet Walnut is a rich brown velvet with a softly brushed surface and a quilted-looking geometric repeat. The raised outlines give the design a tactile, almost pebble-like rhythm across the cloth.

About this fabric

This Sanderson x Giles Deacon velvet has a substantial 548gsm handle and a usable width of 137 cm, making it especially well suited to upholstery. The colourway reads as warm walnut brown, with lighter highlights lifting the pile on the pattern’s rounded diamond shapes and deeper shading settling into the seams between them. Its 10.3 cm vertical and 17.5 cm horizontal repeat creates a clearly defined but compact geometric surface that feels structured rather than busy. With 175 threads per cm, the finish looks dense and refined, and the velvet surface softens the brown into a mellow, autumnal tone.

How to use it

Pair this walnut velvet with oak, cognac leather or aged brass for a layered, grounded scheme. It works particularly well on an armchair, banquette or headboard where the light can skim the pile and reveal the pattern.

Use on tailored seating or a statement headboard to let the velvet’s warm brown tone and raised pattern catch the light.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
