About this fabric

This velvet is from Sanderson’s Icaria and Boho Velvets collection and has a usable width of 140 cm, a weight of 570 gsm and 79 threads per cm, so it has the substantial feel expected of an upholstery cloth. The design reads as a layered, abstract strié, with narrow vertical lines and broken patches of pile creating a textured, almost weathered effect. In Icaria Teal, the colour sits between blue and green, but the overall impression is dark and saturated rather than bright, with the sheen lifting to a slightly brighter teal where the pile catches. The 70 cm horizontal repeat suggests a broad pattern rhythm that suits larger upholstered pieces and dramatic soft furnishings.

How to use it

Use Icaria Teal on a deep-buttoned sofa, a pair of accent chairs or full-length curtains where the pile can catch the light. It works especially well with walnut, brushed brass and warm neutrals, which balance the fabric’s cool, shadowy teal.
