Fenton Check Teal

Islay Wools FabricSAF0259-01

Fenton Check Teal pairs a cool teal ground with pale, chalky cross-checks for a quietly classic tartan look. The overall effect is softened and slightly weathered, with a woolly surface that keeps the pattern feeling relaxed rather than sharp.

About this fabric

This fabric has a substantial 383 gsm weight, so it reads as a sturdy woven cloth with enough body for seating and soft furnishings. The check is set on a usable width of 141 cm, and the pattern repeats every 15.8 cm vertically and 15.5 cm horizontally, creating a regular, balanced grid. In this colourway the teal is muted and cool, sitting between sea-green and blue, while the lighter lines add a dry, misty contrast. The weave looks compact and textural, with the checks softening into one another rather than appearing stark or glossy.

How to use it

Use it on an armchair, ottoman or bench where the teal can bring a cool accent without feeling loud. It also works well with oak, painted timber and warm neutrals, which let the check’s pale intersections stand out.

A cool teal tartan that brings easy, country-house character to sturdy seating.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
