About this fabric

This Sanderson fabric from the Islay Wools collection has a substantial 383gsm handle, which suits upholstery and gives the cloth a robust, tailored presence. The check is compact and regular, with a 15.8 cm vertical repeat and 15.5 cm horizontal repeat across a usable width of 141 cm. Visually, the colourway reads as a warm tartan mix of russet, amber and mossy green, with fine blue-grey lines breaking up the darker ground. The palette feels earthy rather than bright, so the pattern comes across as classic and grounded instead of overly crisp or high-contrast.

How to use it

Pair this russet-and-amber check with aged leather, dark timber and brushed brass for a settled country-house look. It also works well as a feature chair fabric in rooms with cream walls, where the warm plaid can take centre stage.

Use for statement upholstery or lively cushions where the warm, heritage check can bring depth without overwhelming a room.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
