About this colour

At #9B9D9C, Aubusson reads as a muted grey-green with a slight blue cast, so it feels cooler than a true sage and softer than a clean grey. It lifts a little in bright light but keeps enough depth to avoid looking flat, making it especially useful on walls where you want colour without obvious contrast. In a north-facing room it will feel cooler and more mineral, with the green-grey side becoming more pronounced. In south-facing light it warms gently and looks smoother, which gives it an easy backdrop beside natural oak, dark walnut, pale linen tones and restrained pattern in upholstery. In Acrylic Eggshell, Elite Emulsion or True Matt, it works well on joinery or full walls where a measured, refined colour is needed.

How to use it

Aubusson suits living rooms, studies and hallways where a calm, composed wall colour is needed beside timber furniture or tailored upholstery. It also sits neatly with off-white woodwork, aged brass details and greys, greens or neutrals in nearby curtains and seating.

Aubusson gives a wall a quiet grey-green cast that feels understated and grown-up.
