About this colour

This colour reads as warm rather than cool, with a dusty red-brown base that keeps it from feeling pink or overtly purple. In north-facing light it will darken a little and take on more of its brown and plum undertone, making it feel deeper and more enclosed. In south-facing rooms it shows more of its muted mauve warmth and appears lighter, though it still stays restrained rather than bright. It works well beside walnut, smoked oak and darker painted woodwork, and it has enough softness to sit comfortably with linen, velvet and patterned upholstery in similar earthy tones.

How to use it

Use it in a sitting room, study or bedroom where you want a calm wall colour with depth. It suits stained woodwork, deep green upholstery and warm neutral curtains, especially where the room needs a colour that can hold its own beside richer textiles.
