2026 Paint PaintZOP1142-24

The house has discontinued this one. We are keeping the page so the link still works, but we can no longer order it. There are alternatives below, and if you have a cutting or a photograph we will help you match it.

Taupe from Zoffany’s 2026 Paint range is a settled, mid-toned neutral with a distinctly warm cast. At #A8978F, it sits between beige and grey with a soft, grounded presence.

About this colour

This shade reads as a calm pink-beige taupe with enough grey in it to stop it feeling sweet, and enough warmth to keep it from looking cold. On a wall it absorbs more light than it reflects, so it feels composed rather than bright, especially in the deeper True Matt finish. In a north-facing room it can lean a little cooler and more mushroom-like, while still holding its warmth; in south-facing light it brings out the beige and rose notes and feels richer. It sits comfortably beside natural oak, walnut and painted joinery, and gives a quiet backdrop to linens, velvets and leathers in stone, tobacco, sage or deep brown.

How to use it

It suits sitting rooms, bedrooms and study walls where a restrained warm neutral is needed. Use it with colour-matched woodwork for a calm finish, or pair it with darker timber and upholstered pieces in olive, russet or soft mushroom tones.

A warm, mid-depth taupe that stays balanced rather than turning beige or grey.

Order it with the cloth

A pot comes off the same order as the fabric, so the wall and the chair in front of it are chosen together. The making is ours: cut, sewn and fitted in our own Heybridge workshop, with Simon over every stage.

Pairs well with

Taupe is a wall colour, so these are the cloths that sit against it: one of them on the curtains, the paint behind. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.
