Essential Weaves Vol 2 FabricEWV2POPLAR

Poplar Iris shows a softly mottled floral texture in cool iris violet and lavender-grey tones. The pattern sits close to the surface, giving the cloth a layered, almost weathered look.

About this fabric

Woven in 100% polyester, Poplar Iris is supplied as a drapes-only fabric and measures 140cm wide. The design has a 24cm vertical and horizontal repeat, and the 357g per linear metre weight gives it a substantial curtain-making feel. Visually, the colourway balances smoky mauve with pale lilac highlights, so the botanical texture reads crisp rather than busy. Its matte, broken-up surface creates depth without shine, making the pattern feel calm and tailored.

How to use it

Use this muted iris shade for curtains in rooms that need a cooler, more composed accent, especially against pale plaster, stone, or soft grey walls. It pairs neatly with walnut, brushed brass, and restrained florals in deeper plum or sage.

The cool violet-grey tone gives this textured floral a refined, quietly dramatic finish for elegant curtains.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
