Hemsby Check Red

Hemsby Chks & Stripes FabricF3728-02

Hemsby Check Red is a neatly scaled tartan-style check in a warm tomato red, crossed with fine beige-gold lines. The woven ground has a dry, lightly slubby look that keeps the colour feeling soft rather than glossy.

About this fabric

This fabric is sold as a Fabric with a width of approximately 143cm and a vertical and horizontal repeat of around 12cm, giving the check a regular, balanced rhythm. The composition of 57% viscose, 21% cotton, 12% linen and 10% polyester helps explain the cloth’s slightly textured, breathable handle and its crisp but not harsh finish. In this colourway, the red reads full and lively, with a warm brick-tomato depth that is tempered by the pale cross lines. The overall effect is traditional but fresh, with enough structure in the weave to suit both tailored loose covers and curtains.

How to use it

Use it to bring warmth to a reading chair, bench seat or café curtains, especially where the red can echo wood tones and brass. It pairs naturally with cream paint, aged oak and quiet green accents, letting the check do the talking without overwhelming the room.

A classic check that works well on country upholstery or tailored curtains.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
