About this fabric

This Essenza velvet reads as a soft black with a restrained charcoal cast rather than a flat, absolute black. The close, even pile creates a smooth surface with a barely perceptible directional change in sheen as the nap shifts. Made from 100% polyester, it is 138cm wide and suitable for both contract and domestic upholstery. ESS4298 is machine washable and carries Contract GreenFR® Plus flame retardancy.

How to use it

Use this deep charcoal-black colourway to give a sofa, headboard or occasional chair a tailored, cocooning presence. It pairs particularly well with pale stone, smoked timber and brushed metal, which help reveal the velvet’s subtle surface variation.
