Tidal Linen

Chesil Fabric

Tidal Linen shows a soft oat ground with a delicate woven herringbone-like texture that reads calm and pared-back. The surface has a gently dappled, linen-rich look that keeps the colourway warm rather than stark.

About this fabric

Woven in a blend of 5% Polyester, 26% Linen, 16% Cotton and 53% Viscose, this Chesil fabric has a natural-looking handle with enough body for fixed upholstery. The 35,000 Martindale rub test and upholstery grade for Contract and General Domestic use make it well suited to everyday seating, while the A FR rating conforms to BS5852 Part 1 Source 0 and 1. Visually, Tidal Linen sits in a muted cream-to-oat palette with a subtle beige undertone, and the small-scale wave-like weave gives the surface quiet movement without strong contrast. At approx. 137cm wide, it offers a practical width for tailored upholstery pieces, and it should be dry cleaned.

How to use it

Use Tidal Linen on an armchair, banquette or loose cushion where its soft neutral tone can lift darker woods and painted finishes. It works especially well in rooms with chalky whites, warm oak and pale stone, where the fine texture adds depth without dominating.

A quietly textured neutral that softens statement seating and layers easily with timber and stone.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Tidal Linen without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
