Highland Check Spice

Modern Country Velvets VelvetFD314.T30

Highland Check Spice is a richly warm velvet in layered rust, burnt orange and brown, with a softly blurred check that shifts gently across the surface. Its plush face catches the light in subtle tonal variations rather than a sharp contrast.

About this fabric

This Mulberry Home velvet has a deep Spice colourway, combining glowing russet highlights with darker brown-red blocks in an understated windowpane check. The pattern repeats every 18 cm vertically and 17.5 cm horizontally, giving the design a settled medium-scale rhythm. Woven from 55% viscose and 45% cotton, it is 140 cm wide and rated at 50,000 Martindale for durability. It is suitable for curtains, loose upholstery, fixed upholstery and bedspreads; care is professional dry cleaning only, with no washing, bleaching or ironing.

How to use it

Use this warm rust velvet to bring depth to a reading chair, sofa or upholstered bed, pairing it with aged timber, tobacco leather and quiet neutral linens. The softly varied check also gives curtains a cosy, enveloping presence without introducing a high-contrast pattern.

A warm, richly shaded velvet check for inviting country-style upholstery, occasional curtains and bedspreads.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Highland Check Spice without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
