Calais Fabric

Calais Asphalt is a quietly tonal plain with a deep charcoal-grey look and a fine, woven surface. Its matt, close weave gives the colour a crisp, tailored feel.

About this fabric

Woven in 52% Recycled Polyester and 48% Polyester, this 300 cm wide fabric is designed for curtaining and has no stated martindale rub test, which suits its decorative window use. The swatch reads as a cool asphalt grey, with a softly mottled depth that keeps the shade from looking flat. The plain weave is fine and even, so the surface catches light subtly rather than shining. Its restrained tone feels contemporary and easy to layer with darker timbers, pale linen or black accents.

How to use it

Use Calais Asphalt for full-length curtains or simple wave headings where the wide 300 cm width helps keep drops clean. Its cool charcoal note works especially well in modern rooms with concrete, oak or crisp white walls.

A clean, modern neutral that pairs easily with pale wood, stone and softened metallics.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
