About this fabric
This Hartwell fabric by Jane Churchill is woven in 100% cotton and has an approx. 5cm vertical and horizontal repeat, creating a regular checked grid across the surface. The navy yarns read cool and grounded against the pale ground, so the pattern feels sharper and more graphic than a softer tartan. At approx. 135cm wide, it offers a practical width for both upholstery and window projects, depending on the room and the finish you want. The cotton weave appears smooth and lightly textured, with the check’s dark blue lines giving just enough contrast to feel structured without becoming heavy. Care code C 8 + T 3 and fire code √BM are supplied for reference.
How to use it
Use this navy check on an armchair, bench cushion or Roman blind where its small repeat can be seen clearly. It works especially well with white, slate and natural timber, adding a crisp nautical note without feeling loud.
A crisp navy-and-cream check that feels neat and tailored in any classic scheme.

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Barlow Check Navy without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it
Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
