Marius Blue

Marius FabricF4840-01

Marius Blue shows a classic damask motif in a muted teal-blue ground with a pale, timeworn-looking pattern overlay. The design has a softly aged sheen that lifts the scrolling forms without making the surface look glossy.

About this fabric

Marius Blue from Colefax and Fowler is woven in a refined blend of 40% linen, 36% viscose and 24% silk, giving the cloth a dry-yet-supple handle with a gentle lustre. The damask pattern is repeated on a large 71cm vertical and horizontal repeat, and the 142cm width makes it practical for larger-scale furnishings. In this colourway, the blue reads as cool and slightly green-leaning, while the motif sits in a warm oatmeal-gold tone that stands out clearly against the ground. The overall effect is formal but softened, with enough texture in the weave to keep the surface from feeling flat.

How to use it

Use Marius Blue where you want pattern and colour to feel settled rather than bright: it works beautifully on curtains, pelmets, and upholstered chairs with traditional lines. The muted blue ground pairs especially well with chalky whites, weathered wood, and brass accents.

Elegant enough for curtains or statement upholstery, with a softened blue ground that keeps the damask feeling lifted.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
