Rousseau Navy/Red

Rousseau - Atmosphere VIII FabricJ0165-01

Rousseau Navy/Red pairs a deep navy ground with painterly tropical leaves and flowers in rose, rust, ochre and soft teal. The design reads bold and layered, with the darker base making the brighter motifs feel especially vivid.

About this fabric

This Jane Churchill fabric is composed of 65% Cotton, 18% Viscose and 17% Polyester, with an approximate width of 126cm and a vertical/horizontal repeat of 63cm. The visible surface has a woven, decorative cloth feel rather than a flat print, which gives the leaf forms and speckled petals a tactile, lively finish. On the navy background, the reds lean towards raspberry and garnet, while the ochre and sage outlines add warmth and definition without flattening the pattern. The overall effect is rich and slightly eclectic, with enough substance for either upholstery or drapery in a room that wants colour and pattern.

How to use it

The deep navy ground works well with dark timber, brass and muted green accents, letting the red florals provide the strongest note in the room. Use it on a pair of curtains, an occasional chair or cushions where the large repeat can be shown to advantage.

Use for statement curtains or upholstery where its jewel-toned leaves can stand out.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
