Porter & Stone

Babylon Sand

Misc Fabric

Babylon Sand reads as a warm, earthy damask with a softly textured surface and a subtle metallic lift from the lurex content. The pattern sits in a sand-brown palette that feels grounded rather than stark, with the motif showing clearly across the cloth.

About this fabric

This Porter & Stone fabric is 140cm wide and made from 95% polyester and 5% lurex, with a 24cm pattern repeat and NQT1 care instructions. In this colourway, the design appears as an overlapping damask with a mottled, pebble-like texture that gives the surface depth. The sand base is warmed by brown patterning, while the fine lurex threads add just a restrained, low-sheen glimmer rather than a bright shine. Its mid-weight look and woven structure make it suitable for both upholstery and drapery where a richer, tailored finish is wanted.

How to use it

Pair Babylon Sand with walnut woods, aged brass and plain linen to bring out its warm, biscuit-brown tones. It works well in schemes that need pattern without strong contrast, especially on upholstered chairs, cushions or relaxed curtains.

Use with velvet or plain linen for a grounded, tailored scheme.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
