Porter & Stone

Lava Charcoal

Other Fabrics & Weaves Fabric

Lava Charcoal has a dark, almost black ground that is streaked with a web of pale taupe and subtle metallic thread. The result is a bold, rock-like abstract with an energetic, scratched surface effect.

About this fabric

This Porter & Stone fabric is composed of 93% polyester and 7% lurex, giving the design its softly shimmering highlights against the deep charcoal base. The 140cm width makes it a practical choice for larger projects, while the 35.5cm vertical by 36cm horizontal repeat keeps the woven-looking pattern well paced across the surface. Visually, the colourway reads as a blackened charcoal with warm stone-taupe movement, so the lighter linework stands out clearly without feeling bright. The overall finish feels textured and atmospheric, with the lurex adding a faint glint that catches the light.

How to use it

Pair it with smoked oak, black metal and aged brass for a polished, urban look. It works especially well when you want a dark fabric that still has enough tonal movement to avoid feeling flat.

Use for a dramatic scheme; the pale metallic lines lift the deep charcoal ground without losing its moody feel.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
