Thornham Spice

Artisan II FabricBP10793.3

Thornham Spice pairs a warm ivory ground with closely spaced, muted terracotta sprig motifs. The small-scale pattern has a softly printed, textile-like character, with the spice tone reading warmer and deeper in the denser parts of each motif.

About this fabric

Woven in 52% linen and 48% cotton, this 135 cm wide fabric has a fine, even ground that suits both flowing curtains and upholstered applications. Its repeated stylised leaf-and-floral motifs measure 8 cm vertically by 5 cm horizontally, creating a compact rhythm across the ivory background. The terracotta shade is subdued rather than bright, giving the design a mellow, earthy warmth. Thornham Spice is specified for curtains, loose upholstery, fixed upholstery and bedspreads, with a 20,000 Martindale rub test for practical everyday use.

How to use it

Use Thornham Spice to warm an otherwise pale room: it works especially well on relaxed curtains, a buttoned chair or a coordinating bedspread alongside oak, aged brass and natural linens. The ivory-and-spice contrast also makes it easy to pair with muted terracotta, sand and warm grey accents.

A warm ivory ground and muted spice motif bring traditional pattern to curtains, upholstery and bedspreads.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Thornham Spice without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
