Islay Black Earth

Performance Boucle FabricHAF0543-08

Islay Black Earth presents a near-black, charcoal-toned surface with a fine, softly napped boucle texture. The close-up shows subtle tonal variation as the tiny fibres catch the light, rather than a printed motif.

About this fabric

This is a dense, heavy textile weighing 519 gsm, with a usable width of 138 cm and 84 threads per cm. Its deep black-earth tone reads as charcoal rather than a flat ink black, while the small boucle fibres add a softly granular surface. The design has no vertical or horizontal pattern repeat, leaving the dark texture uninterrupted across the cloth. Its substantial weight and dense woven appearance make it best suited to upholstery.

How to use it

Use this cool, deep charcoal-black colourway on a tailored sofa, armchair or dining seat where its nubby surface can soften the severity of a dark tone. Pair it with pale timber, warm metal or softly coloured walls to bring out the fine tonal variation in the weave.

Use this deep charcoal boucle to give upholstered seating a quietly textured, contemporary finish.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
