About this fabric

This Morris & Co. velvet is woven in russet, burnt red and dark mulberry tones, with curling foliage, stylised flowers and small botanical details distributed across the surface. The darker pattern sits close to the warm ground, while subtle tonal variation catches the light across the velvet pile. At 480gsm, it has the visual and physical weight expected of an upholstery velvet rather than a fine curtain cloth. The usable width is 136cm, with a 64cm vertical repeat and 52cm horizontal repeat; the standard length is 25m and the fabric has 44 threads per centimetre.

How to use it

Use this warm, deep colourway on a buttoned armchair, footstool or occasional sofa in a room with walnut, dark stained wood or aged brass. Balance its russet-and-mulberry intensity with muted plaster, tobacco, charcoal or warm cream surrounding fabrics.

Use this richly coloured velvet on statement upholstery, where its russet ground and deep mulberry pattern can be appreciated up close.
