About this fabric

The madder ground reads as muted coral-red rather than bright scarlet, with blue-grey leaves, cream highlights and small plum-brown details distributed throughout the design. Repeated rosettes, curling stems, stylised leaves and diamond-like ornaments form a compact medium-scale pattern; the supplied repeat is 65 cm vertically by 67.2 cm horizontally. At 378 gsm and 137 cm usable width, this is a substantial textile with the weight to suit upholstery. Its close decorative detail and softly textured appearance lend the colourway a timeworn, handcrafted feel without losing the clarity of the individual motifs.

How to use it

Use the warm, softened coral of Madder on an upholstered chair, footstool or occasional sofa, pairing it with chalky cream and blue-grey plains to draw out the quieter colours in the pattern. Dark wood and aged brass will reinforce its historic, collected mood.
