About this fabric

Cranes Red from Voyage Maison’s Kyotogardens collection is a fabric with a natural-looking linen slub and a softly matte surface that suits its brushed, painterly motif. The composition is 82% viscose and 18% linen, giving the cloth a smooth handle with enough texture to keep the print from feeling flat. In this colourway, the cranes are picked out in deep crimson, burgundy and wine tones against a pale, chalky ground, so the design reads moody rather than bright. With a 138cm width, a 66.5cm horizontal repeat and 53cm vertical repeat, it has the scale and rhythm for prominent upholstery or flowing drapery. It is iron safe, spot clean only, and has no noted fire-retardant performance.

How to use it

The cool off-white ground and dark red birds work well in rooms with oak, blackened metal or soft stone finishes. Use it where you want pattern with restraint, especially on a statement armchair, curtains or cushions over neutral upholstery.

Use it for statement curtains or a tailored occasional chair with a quietly dramatic finish.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
