Shalimar Graphite/Mole

Country House Fabrics FabricSAF0192-02

Shalimar in Graphite/Mole pairs a deep charcoal-brown ground with an all-over trailing floral pattern in soft taupe, stone and ivory. The contrast is muted rather than bright, giving the design a rich, smoky presence.

About this fabric

This Sanderson Country House Fabrics textile has a usable width of 134.5 cm, a 91 cm vertical repeat and a matching 134.5 cm horizontal repeat, so the large-scale floral layout reads clearly across a broad span. At 416 gsm and 57.7 threads per cm, it has the substantial feel expected of an upholstery-weight cloth. The printed pattern shows scrolling stems, large stylised blooms and smaller botanical details in layered neutrals, all lifted against a graphite/mole ground that looks velvety and dark. The overall effect is warm, antique and softly dramatic, with the pale motif standing out just enough to be seen without losing the richness of the background.

How to use it

Use this colourway on an occasional chair, ottoman or statement sofa where the dark ground can frame the pale florals. It also works well with walnut, parchment and bronze finishes, which echo the fabric’s warm, aged character.

Use with warm neutrals and aged brass to keep the dark ground feeling refined rather than severe.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Shalimar Graphite/Mole without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
