About this fabric

This Onyx colourway reads as a very deep black with cool charcoal undertones, giving the surface a smooth, shadowy depth rather than a flat jet black look. The velvet pile is visibly dense and even, which suits the collection’s contract and general domestic upholstery grade and supports a robust 100,000 Martindale rub test. At 137cm wide and available for curtains, loose covers and fixed upholstery, it is a versatile plain velvet with a refined, understated sheen. The composition of 60% polyester, 28% recycled polyester, 8% acrylic and 4% viscose helps explain its clean finish and practical handle, while the FR rating conforms to BS5852 Part 1 Source 0 and 1.

How to use it

Use this on a sofa, headboard or dining chairs for a tailored, monochrome scheme, or add it to curtains where the black pile will frame a room with a crisp, dramatic edge. It pairs especially well with pale walls, walnut and brushed metal details.

A sleek black velvet that adds depth and polish to tailored seating or dramatic curtains.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
